5 Ways to Cut Calories From Thanksgiving Dinner

in The Too Busy to Diet Blog on November 23, 2015

1) Make a lower calorie, lower fat green bean casserole. (See recipe below)
2) Make homemade cranberry sauce using artificial sweetener. Cranberries are low in calories and high in nutrition.
3) Bring a vegetable platter with low calorie Ranch dressing to your guest’s house or make one for your own dinner. Check Pinterest for Turkey Vegetable Platters
4)Pick up low-fat gravy at the grocery. Bottle and can varieties taste great and add flavor and minimal calories to your turkey.
5) Apple and pumpkin pies are both naturally sweetened and have a natural sweet taste. For those with diabetes or those watching their weight, sugar can be reduced by half or artificial sweeteners can be use in equal amounts to replace sugar. You may need to experiment with the sugar amounts over the years to find the correct EatingWells_Best_Thanksgiving_Turkey_Recipesproportion of sugar substitute for you. Remember that spices added to apple and pumpkin pie add sweetness to the finished product. These include cinnamon, cloves, and allspice.
