Freshly Popped Popcorn
in The Too Busy to Diet Blog on June 8, 2015
Written by Allie McTighe, dietetic student at Miami University of Ohio: One of my favorite snacks, since I was little, has been popcorn. I would have it as an after school snack, almost everyday, and till this day I still enjoy eating it. Most people buy the highly processed popcorn in bags that they microwave in the microwave. What if I could tell you that you could still enjoy your popcorn within two minutes, and it wouldn’t contain harmful additives? I recently started to put ¼ of a cup of Orville popcorn kernels in a brown paper bag, fold over the top of the bag, and let it pop in the microwave for roughly two minutes. This way I am still able to enjoy my popcorn within two minutes, without any additional preservatives. After my popcorn has popped I like to lightly salt and add a tablespoon of butter. This is a healthier option to have as a snack throughout the day, and I keep the popcorn in the paper bag to have for an on the go snack.
