Quick and Easy Breakfast

Written by Allie McTighe, dietetic student at Miami University of Ohio: Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. Sometimes I go to bed thinking of what I am going to make for breakfast in the morning! My family and friends tend to laugh because I wake up in the morning drink a tall glass of water and start making breakfast, almost instantly. I have a few favorite breakfast ideas I am going to share. This summer I have two new breakfast recipes. One is avocado toast with an egg and dash of hot sauce. This meal I love to have before I workout or know I have a long day ahead of me. This meal keeps me feeling fuller longer and gives me a lot of energy. Second breakfast meal is an egg white omelet with spinach, tomato, onion, and feta cheese. Both of the recipes are easy and quick to make.

During school one of my favorite breakfast ideas is almond butter toast with bananas and raw honey. I think that almond butter can be a bit thick and the drizzle of raw honey makes it less thick and more creamy. This meal is very quick to make and also keeps me energized and full, throughout the day.

Most people I know say that they hate breakfast and cannot get themselves to eat in the morning. In high school I used to feel the same way. When I went to college I broke my habit of not eating first thing in the morning and started to my breakfast everyday, and now I love it! It is so important for us to start our metabolism for the day and give our mind and body energy. I recommend everyone to eat breakfast, even if you do not like breakfast food. Once you get in the habit of eating breakfast you come to realize how much more energy you have throughout the day. Give it a try and tell us your favorite breakfast meal!
