5 Ways to Watch Your Weight Before Thanksgiving
in The Too Busy to Diet Blog on November 12, 2015
By now, most of us have finished our children’s Halloween candy. And most of us have most probably put on a few extra pounds. So, what can you do to take those extra pounds off before Thanksgiving?
1) If Halloween candy is still lurking, give the remainder away or toss it out. Next year, buy items that you do not like, or give the extras to your office, school, or local food pantry. Try also to give non-candy treats like plastic toys, stickers, or sugar-free gum.
2) Fit exercise in daily for at least 45 minutes.
Walking is a good idea because there are not too many days before cold weather arrives. Take advantage of the cool, fresh autumn weather and the beautiful changing of the leaves.
3) Start planning out your Thanksgiving dinner to make sure that you have lower calorie choices available. See lower calorie holiday recipes in the TBTD blog to come next week.
4) Check your weight frequently to make sure that you are weight stable before Thanksgiving. If your weight seems to be creeping up, keep a diet diary since those tracking intake do better with weight maintenance or weight reduction.
5) Try to eat more of your meals at home and pack your own sack lunches. Once December starts there will be cocktail parties, appetizers, cookies, and restaurant dinners. Try to restrict extra calories eaten out before the eating season begins.
You will have less ability to control food eaten out and more temptations to make eating healthy harder.
