King Cakes
King cakes are popular during the carnival season. Having the last name, KING, I am accustomed to having a King cake every time a cake is eaten with the King family.
There are a variety of ways that King cakes are made although they are quite similar. The ones I have tasted resemble pound cake with sprinkles colored purple, green, and gold that are the colors of the Mardi Gras festival.
Each cake has a “hidden baby” inside. The tradition is that the person who gets the piece of cake with the baby is expected to bake and share the King cake for the next Carnival’s celebration.
Try this King Cake recipe with video to make a King Cake. Enjoy!
