Snack Happy with Almonds
in The Too Busy to Diet Blog on October 9, 2013
Want to eat a snack that fills you up, tastes good, and may prevent weight gain?
A recent study in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that munching on 1.5 ounces of dry-roasted, lightly-salted almonds decreased hunger without packing on weight. An added bonus was improved dietary vitamin E intake.
Many snacks that we eat contain calories, little nutrition, and don’t fill you up. The almonds, despite adding an additional 250 calories per day, didn’t increase the total calories in the study participant’s daily diets.
So, think about using almonds as a between-meal snack. Also, see our chapter on snacking in our book .
