Babies Eating Pickles?

Babies experiencing their first taste of pickles find the sour taste to be surprising. After the initial response, teething infants may find a cold pickle to be soothing to their sour gums.

Pickles have basically the same nutritional value that cucumbers have. They are high in fiber, and have small amounts of vitamins C and K, and potassium. The brining process does not take away from their naturally occurring nutrients
.
One downside to eating pickles is the high sodium content. Eating a large pickle every day would be a concern since a pickle would be supply a significant amount of sodium to an infant’s diet. But having an occasional pickle broadens an infant’s exposure to different tastes.
