They are portable snacks that can bridge the time between meals providing satiety that may prevent eating too much at your meal time. When interviewing clients , especially those interested in weight loss, the biggest meal is always supper. Seems most of us can do pretty well during the day. We may be more organized about our meals, have a favorite place to have a healthy lunch, or better yet bring breakfast and lunch along to the office.
I interviewed someone yesterday wanting to lose 25 lbs. By the time she arrived at dinner she had only eaten 550 calories. No wonder it is tough to control amounts at dinner!
Sunflower seeds pack a lot of nutrition into a one ounce serving which has 170 caloreis. They are high in unsaturated fat, have some protein, fiber, zinc, vitamin E , folate vitamin B6.
Carry them with you and eat on the go or sprinkle them on salads, vegetables, sandwiches, yogurts, casseroles or anywhere you want a bit of crunch.
Due to the high fat content you will want to check for rancidity before using.
Remember if you have more than about 4 hours between meals you should consider a 100 calorie or less snack.
