Bidding Farewell to Summer Fruits

in The Too Busy to Diet Blog on September 20, 2013

Okay, so I’ve  just finished a summertime indulgence of fresh fruit. They were delicious this year here in the Midwest. I started off the summer with berries: strawberries, blueberries, raspberries. A handful of berries in my cereal in the morning was a great way to start the day. Along came melons: watermelon, cantaloupe and honey dew. The melons were sweet and refreshing and a delicious addition to a summer dinner or a between meal snack.

Peaches, plums and nectarines arrived, and they were some of the best I’ve had in the past few years. Did I forget cherries and grapes? Have been nibbling on them right along.

The tomatoes picked from the garden sprinkled with a bit of salt and olive oil was a real treat. And yes, tomatoes are fruit!

I hope I haven’t forgotten any others. I love them all and hate to see them go.
