Brunch
in The Too Busy to Diet Blog on September 6, 2015
Written by Allie McTighe, dietetic student at Miami University of Ohio: Labor day weekend is always a great time to come home and reunite with family and friends. After mass, or sometimes before, my family makes a point to have brunch together. Today we went to Heck’s cafe with my family for brunch. What I love most about brunch is the variety of breakfast and lunch options. I always find that at brunch, you can get a lot of the essential nutrients to start your day. For instance, on the menu, almost every dish contained a carbohydrate, vegetable, protein, and fruit. It is a great way to start your day with essential nutrients. Today I chose the “Veggie Hash,” it contained seasonal vegetables, such as carrots, yellow onion, zucchini, and yellow squash, potatoes, spinach, and two over easy eggs with fresh black ground pepper. This dish was colorful and full of so many flavors. The portion size was fairly large, but that makes a great dish for tomorrow morning as well.
