Counting Sheep? Try This!
Having trouble sleeping? Bored with counting sheep?
People’s Pharmacy column in the Chicago Tribune discusses the value of tart cherry juice at bedtime.
A 94 year old woman wrote in to share that her sleeping problems were improved after drinking a half cup of tart cherry juice.
The European Journal of Nutrition, December, 2012 reported that this drink has indeed been shown to improve sleep because the Montmorency cherries contain melatonin. Since the dose of melatonin is low the juice is unlikely to cause dizziness or grogginess like pills often do.
