DON’T TURN YOUR NOSE UP AT A SMALL WEIGHT LOSS

Written by MS, CDE, LD, Monica Joyce: Even a small weight loss can have beneficial effects. A small study published in Cell Metabolism looked at people who are obese and lost 5%, 10% and 15% of their weight.
The group who lost 5% had benefits that included reducing risk factors for diabetes and heart disease. Senior study author Samuel Klein suggests that recommending a goal of 5% may motivate people to achieve more realistic weight loss targets.
These are recommendations that I like to practice when working with my clients.
