Fresh Fruits and Vegetables
in The Too Busy to Diet Blog on April 2, 2015
Written by Monica Joyce. I was surprised at the recent findings from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Despite the trend to healthy snacks and meals and to eat fresh unprocessed food it seems that highly processed foods make up more than 60% of the calories purchased by Americans.
These items include white bread, cookies, chips, and candy. Is it convenience since we are all busy or just no matter what we just like these items. The good news is the best of the fresh fruits and vegetables are appearing in the produce section of grocery stores. Once in season prices will be lower and in fact have been good all winter here in the Midwest. Spring/summer brings low calorie, great tasting options for snacking. Plan on indulging a bit. Summer doesn’t last all that long!
