Happy Meatball Day
in The Too Busy to Diet Blog on March 9, 2017
Today is Meatball Day. No one knows how this day got started, but I for one do not care as long as we have meatballs. Meatballs are one of my favorite foods. When we were in Marco, Florida, Sal,our 85 year old buddy gave us a recipe to follow for a new variety of meatballs. I did not tell him that my grandmother from Italy shared a very similar recipe from Bari, Italy with me as a child. But the recipes were similar most likely because he came from a town a bit further south from where my grandmother grew up.
We were very upset that Sal could not help us cook the meatballs to learn some little tricks. But Ash Wednesday was the day before we left to go home to Chicago and we did not have time to make the meatballs before we left. But we will try them at home and then try them again when we go back to Marco. Below are 5 ways you can enjoy meatballs:
1) Spaghetti and Meatballs
2) Swedish Meatballs
3) Meatball Salad
4) Meatball Submarine Sandwich
5) Porcupine Meatballs
Try one of your favorite recipes and enjoy. Meatballs are a great meal choice because they can be cooked in advance and leftovers can be served to try another day during the week. You can also cook a double batch and freeze some to serve another day. But the one thing you can be sure of is that they are a great meal choice!
