Do you know who was responsible for Memorial Day? Originally know as Decoration Day, John Alexander Logan established Memorial Day. He is most probably the most successful Union Army Generals. He was born in pro-slavery southern Illinois. He served in the US House of Representatives for the state of Illinois. He served with distinction at the battle in Vicksburg where he was instrumental in the success of the Union Army.
