Time to Freshen Up the Fridge for Spring!
Written by Alexis D’Ascenzo, Dietetic Student at University of Illinois at Chicago, CPT
When you look into your refrigerator, how does it make you feel? Is it colorful? Is it clean? Is it dull? Is it cluttered? Well, today I am going to share five tips when it comes to cleaning out your fridge this spring.
-
Before you put anything new in your fridge, unfortunately the cleaning has to come first. Be sure you wipe down the shelves, walls, doors, and drawers inside of the refrigerator.
-
Next, discard the food that has been sitting in those containers for the past week, they are most likely spoiled…
-
If there are any condiments with less than your pinky’s length, it’s time to discard those too!
-
Don’t forget to check the dates on your dairy, smell your cheese (to see if its still good), and make sure you have enough eggs!
-
Think SPRING! COLOR is coming back into the stores! So be sure to stock your shelves with fresh produce.
