Strawberries

Written by Monica Joyce, RD, LD, MS, CDE: Strawberries are in season which means they are one of the least expensive fruits you can buy right now.  Throw them on some cereal or yogurt for breakfast, eat as a snack or use as a dessert alone or top some frozen yogurt. They are one of my favorite fruits and at $1 to $2 per lb you can’t beat the price.

A cup of strawberries has 50 calories, 11 grams of carbohydrates, 1 gram of protein, no fat , cholesterol or sodium and 2 gram of fiber.  You’ ll get 160% of your Vitamin C requirement, more than an orange. Enjoy while in season.
