Summertime Grilling
in The Too Busy to Diet Blog on July 1, 2014
Happy almost 4th of July! This momentous holiday has always been one of my favorites. Families get out of the house for backyard games, fun, and of course delicious food. Whether you’re firing up with gas or charcoal, grilling is a great way to get outside and infuse some flavor into your food. To keep up your healthy eating, make sure you reach for lean meats at the grocery store. Toss some veggies in olive oil and a little salt, wrap them up in foil and throw those on the grill for fajitas or a side to any meal. Have you ever tried fruit on the grill? Perhaps this summer is the summer to get adventurous! If you have kids, this is a great time to let them help out in the kitchen (or rather the outdoor kitchen). Ask them what they want to try on the grill and have fun with it. Kids can be great kitchen helpers to wash and dry fruits and veggies and older kids can even help you cut them up for grill-prep. This summer, let dinner be a family affair and take advantage of the sunshine. But don’t forget your sunscreen.
